Experience Uranus! (Fudge Factory)

If you’re traveling along I-44 or taking the historic Route 66 road trip and want a little jolt of middle-school humor, you definitely need to check out the fudge factory in Uranus! There’s so much to see in Uranus, and there’s no better smell than the one I found wafting out of the fudge factory in Uranus!

The fudge in Uranus is really easy to access. Once you exit the interstate it’s just a quick jog down a near sidestreet off the St. Robert, Missouri exit. If you’re only going for the fudge you can get in and out of Uranus and back on the road in under 10 minutes. Still, you might be surprised by all there is to do here and decide to stop and play in Uranus for a little while.

The Experience

If you’re anything like me, you might find it hard to act your age sometimes. So when I walked through those brightly colored doors and the room burst out with “Welcome to Uranus,” I rolled with it! Breathing in deeply, I announced that it smelled wonderful in Uranus!

As you’d expect, it’s all light hearted fun here, and the friendly staff welcomed me to explore all there is to see in Uranus. From barrels of old-timey candy, to homemade jerky (gotta have some meat in Uranus), and novelty items it’s a fun little shop to explore.

For an extra laugh please be sure to check out their novelty shirt section. More than one dad in my life has gotten a t-shirt gift from this store about a plumbing company doing something with pipes in Uranus. It’s just a good spot to stop, have a laugh, and enjoy a delicious treat from Uranus!

The Uranus Fudge Factory is definitely a break from the expected in Southwest Missouri.

Other Attractions in Uranus

There’s a lot more to do in Uranus than meets the eye. There are several buildings all in the same parking lot as the fudge factory, and each gives you another little something to do in Uranus.

During one stop, we explored a double decker bus that was covered top to bottom in graffiti street art. We let the kids burn off some pent up energy from a day on the road at the playground. And then we headed indoors for a side show attraction that felt more like being at mysterious traveling carnival than a fudge factory.

On another trip, we found an Outdoor Gear store where you can get instructor-led archery lessons or shoot a few rounds at the indoor gun range. The store is full of gear for hunters, fisherman, and outdoor sporting enthusiasts.

Over at the Uranus Axehole you can unwind and unleash with instructor-led ax throwing. Pricing is available by group rate and you get 2.5 hours to use an ax throwing lane.

If you’ve seen everything there is to see, and shot or thrown what you needed to throw, don’t leave before grabbing a bite to eat in Uranus at the Moonicorn Creamery & Funnel Cakery. As someone who travels I-44 often, the food here is a much better choice (at least flavor wise) than any fast food you’ll find along the way.

If it’s nice out, there’s plenty of outdoor seating available to stretch out and enjoy a breeze before returning to the road. Limited seating inside is also available.

Planning Your Trip to Uranus

There really isn’t much to plan here. If you’re already traveling along I-44, it’s just a must-see attraction. The main draw is fresh-packed fudge from Uranus, it’s available by the square but they also pack it much harder by the pound.

Lunch at the Moonicorn included, you can be in and out of Uranus in under an hour with fun memories to take with you – or you can stay much longer. The whole family will love exploring Uranus together. There’s also plenty of walking spaces to stop and let pets take a potty break or stretch your legs.

Is Uranus Fudge Factory Worth it?

For the sheer hilarity of it, this is an absolute yes! I wouldn’t go out of my way (much) to stop by and grab some fudge from Uranus, but I won’t miss it either if we’re headed that way! If you’re in a bad mood or feeling the lull from the drive, having some fun in Uranus will definitely turn your frown upside down.

Best of all, you can spend little or no money here, use the bathroom, have a laugh, and get back on the road. There’s quite a bit of fudge in Uranus to choose from though, so I’d plan to spend at least $5 on a single serving, because the best fudge comes from Uranus!
